Shalom: a Hebrew word that has carried great hope and depth for generations of Jewish people. It’s a deep and sustaining peace that brings wholeness and healing.
We are grateful for the continued support of friends like you. As a thank you for your gift in May, we’ll send you a Shalom card. It was created by Sarah Beth Baca, our Volunteer Coordinator at Friends of North Richmond. Here’s what Sarah Beth says about the design and meaning of her beautiful artwork…
“As I made this piece of art, my thoughts were focused around the well-being of a community, with a desire to lift it up and see it thrive. When gathering ideas for this collage, I used maps and images of a city to build the letters. The design of a pedestal shows an elevation, a lifting up. The flowers represent life, beauty, and thriving.
The work of Attack Poverty centers on the empowerment and building up of communities. My prayer for these neighborhoods is that they experience the Shalom that only God can bring, not only peace and wholeness, but a building up of new life and transformation.
We hope this card is a reminder of God’s sustaining peace over you in a difficult time; as well as a reminder of the peace you bring to so many through your donation today.
Thank you for partnering with Attack Poverty to strengthen the under-resourced communities we all love so much. We’re better together!
