Standing in The Gap

What a beautiful picture of communities coming together to empower those who need help in these unprecedented times.

What would you do if you were in financial crisis and someone called to give you $500 cash? Well, that’s exactly what Attack Poverty had the privilege of doing last week!

The Stand Together Foundation and the Family Independence Initiative teamed up to launch #GiveTogetherNow – a rapid-response effort to get cash into the hands of families most affected by COVID-19.

#GiveTogetherNow relies on local non-profits, like Attack Poverty, to have a direct knowledge of the families hurting the most because of lost jobs, working less or caring for loved ones.

50 families received this one-time cash transfer of $500

We identified and nominated 50 families to receive this one-time cash transfer of $500. What a beautiful picture of communities coming together to empower those who need help in these unprecedented times.

The gift of $500 is helping families, like Corena and her three children, in important ways. Corena is a single mother that just moved to North Richmond from Houston. She did not have any furniture and was job searching. Now she is unable to work due to COVID-19. The $500 has allowed her to pay her bills and buy essentials for her apartment as she continues to job search and provide for her three children. What a blessing!

#GiveTogetherNow has raised $15 million and blessed close to 30,000 families with $500. We are hopeful that we’ll have the opportunity to nominate more families soon. Be praying with us!
