Let’s Show Up For Each Other By Praying (family prayer activity included)

Today we are inviting you to take a minute to gather around the table with your family (but not too close!) and pray for each other around the world. Afterall, we’re in this together. We know the power of prayer and how it’s one of the best things we can do right now.

Attack Poverty’s global reach gives a unique look at what’s happening in different parts of the world. We are witnessing how God is unleashing creativity, courage and generosity to fight back against COVID-19.

The reality is that this virus respects no border, boundary or ethnicity.

In the last 7 days, we have served 13,990 people through 7 distribution centers in the Greater Houston Area

It strikes equally at the young and old, while also ignoring any economic status. Yet, it has united us all in many ways and allowed us to continue to pass out hope and resources to those in need.

In the last 7 days, we have served 13,990 people through 7 distribution centers in the Greater Houston Area. Our locations in East Asia, India and Uganda are serving their friends in similar ways. Everyone’s passion and courage are inspiring. And their creativity too!

We love how our friends in Uganda are protecting themselves while continuing to serve others. Don’t have access to an N95 mask? No problem! Grab a banana leaf or pass the chipati (it’s like a tortilla). We won’t stop showing up for others!

Another way we can show up for others is to pray.

Today we are inviting you to take a minute to gather around the table with your family (but not too close!) and pray for each other around the world. Afterall, we’re in this together. We know the power of prayer and how it’s one of the best things we can do right now.

Praying Around the Globe

  1. Get the whole family together and grab a globe. If you don't have a globe at home, you can print out a world map here.
  2. Let each person take a turn to spin the globe. Close your eyes and place a finger anywhere on the globe to make it stop spinning.
  3. If you need some brushing up on some facts about your country, take a minute to google it and see what headlines pop up. (Consider this your kid’s history lesson for the day!)
  4. Now pray for that country together. Take a few minutes to pray for whatever country is closest to where your finger stopped on the globe or pointed on the map.

Here are some things you can pray for:

    • Pray for those with COVID-19 to recover.
    • Pray for the doctors and nurses.
    • Pray for the government to make wise decisions.
    • Pray for missionaries and volunteers serving in that country.
    • Pray for the country's economy and the poor in their nation.
    • Pray that God will use this crisis to point people to Jesus and the hope we have in Him.

Unified on Our Knees

Any worldwide pandemic has the capacity to bring people to their knees. But we are not on our knees in defeat. We are on our knees in prayer! We are honored to have you join us. Thank you for being a part of the Attack poverty family and fighting by our side. We can’t do this without you.

This update is part of our ongoing COVID-19 Response. We are so grateful for your generous support and commitment to helping us break the cycle of generational poverty.
