Faith In Action

Attack Poverty is on the front lines for the most vulnerable across the greater Houston community. Even in the uncertain times of COVID-19 and its many implications, it continues to be our mission to strengthen under-resourced communities.

As resources become more limited for us, it’s even more damaging for our friends. They regularly lack access to information, transportation and resources, which are now becoming scarce for everyone. You can imagine our concern for the communities we serve.

The communities we serve need us now more than ever. And we will not stop showing up for them.

They need us now more than ever. And we will not stop showing up for them. Will you join us on the front lines by giving a gift today?

As you read this, we are collaborating with close to 30 other ministry partners in our area to set up distribution centers to provide kits with essential items such as non-perishable foods, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, medicine, resources for children and more. Don’t worry, they’ll be drive-thru centers to protect everyone from the spread of the virus. Click here to see the distribution locations and list of needs.

We want to continue to do incredible work and respond to the needs of the community, especially relating to COVID-19. But we can’t do this without you. Your gift today will make a deeper impact in the lives of so many. It will provide basic and essential needs for those that need it right now.

We are grateful for your partnership and your commitment to serve others with us. I encourage you to read more below about your impact and watch our website and social media outlets for more updates. Thank you.

In the interest of public health, the 9th Annual Run to Attack Poverty, originally scheduled for April 4, has been postponed to August 29. We want to thank our sponsors, volunteers and those who registered to participate for their dedication, and we look forward to coming together again in August.

Last month, our Attack Poverty Asia location delivered 10,000 respirator masks to the front lines of the Coronavirus outbreak because of you! Thank you for stepping in with this critical need. But we’re not done yet.

We are partnering with 20 non-profit organizations to bring as many supplies in country as possible. This includes 10,000 more masks, 500 eye shields, 500 protective suits and gallons of disinfectant. Together our goal is $20,000 to send these life-saving supplies to a community in need.

Let’s stand up and help them together!

According to one child, the doctors and nurses are the heroes during the Coronavirus outbreak. This is one drawing of hundreds that were entered into an online epidemic prevention competition for children in various communities in Asia. What a great way to engage the children and keep them busy during a two-month quarantine.

Other volunteers worked with children to help them understand the Coronavirus and how to cope with it.

Julien Vargas never received his high school diploma. He was in a low paying job and working over 40+ hours a week. But his heart was to set an example to his family about the importance of an education. He joined the Friends of Rosenberg GED program, which gave him the confidence and encouragement he needed to pass his tests in Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science.

Thanks to donors like you, everything changed for Julien last month when he received his GED! You are transforming the future of families like Julien’s. Now he is looking for a higher paying job and proving to his family what an education can do.

"Don't be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks. Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

There are many changes happening around us each day. Let's not forget to pause in the midst of it all and pray for each other and be reminded of the grace, love, faithfulness and goodness of God. Thank you for continuing to pray for us and the communities we serve.
